This type of collar uses a plastic or metal snap buckle that clips together securely but can be easily released with a simple press. Quick-release collars are commonly paired with nylon or fabric materials, offering convenience for dogs who need their collars taken off regularly.

3. Center-Ring Safety Collar
A center-ring or safety collar features a built-in metal O-ring, typically positioned midway between the two ends of the collar. If the collar gets caught on something, the sliding design prevents choking, making it ideal for active dogs—such as hunting or herding breeds—that love to run freely.

4. Martingale Collar
Martingale collars are adjustable and consist of two loops: a larger one for comfort and a smaller one with a sliding mechanism that gently tightens when the dog pulls. Often made of nylon, they can also be customized with embroidery or prints.

Primarily used for training, Martingales give owners better control during walks. However, they may not be the best choice for dogs that constantly pull or lunge, as excessive pressure on the throat can cause injury.

5. Harness (Bonus Alternative!)
According to pet experts, the best option for many dogs is actually a harness rather than a collar. If a dog pulls aggressively or chases suddenly, a collar can strain their throat. A harness, however, distributes pressure across the chest and shoulders, reducing the risk of injury.
